Sree Vishnu is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Comrade Kalyan. Ahead of the release, the actor sat down with Gulte Pro’s Ram Venkat Srikar for an interesting conversation about his recent films, career choices and the pressure surrounding his image.
Speaking about Swag, Sree Vishnu admitted that he expected more appreciation for the film. He said the movie was an ambitious experiment built around gender equality, but felt the audience may not have been completely ready for that kind of film at the time.
He said he did not expect awards for himself, but hoped the film would find a place among the year’s notable movies and inspire young filmmakers to attempt something different.
The actor also addressed his growing image as an entertainment hero. Sree Vishnu said he was never just a comic actor and wants to explore different genres. He believes the combination of a fresh story and entertainment can work, but does not want comedy to become an automatic expectation whenever he signs a film.
That is also the reason behind his choice of Comrade Kalyan. Sree Vishnu revealed that the film has a serious backdrop, but the team decided to present it through entertainment. He admitted that the approach initially felt risky, but the comedy eventually blended naturally with the story and situations.
He further explained that he does not want to restrict himself to one particular genre. He already has plans to explore family entertainers and pure dramas in the coming years before eventually returning to the fun space. He feels that taking a break from comedy will make his return to the genre more special.
Talking about Comrade Kalyan, Vishnu said the film was never designed as a serious story with forced comedy. Instead, every humorous moment comes naturally from the situation. With the film now nearing release, the actor is hoping this different approach will connect strongly with the audience.
