Vizag: Capital Works Speed Up, Special Road For VVIPs From Airport To City

Andhra Pradesh government has speedened the works to shift the Capital From Amaravati to Visakhapatnam. As Vizag is declared as the Executive Capital of the state, the administration works of the government function from Visakhapatnam itself.

As the shifting of the capital to Vizag gains heat, the state government has taken up the road works in the city. The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is decking up the city as speculations are rife that the capital to Vizag would be shifted in the next three months.

A special road connecting Vizag Airport and the proposed Secretariat is being constructed at war-foot measures. The special road is for VVIPs such as the Chief Minister, State Ministers who want to enter the city from the airport.  The road is being extended at key junctions and the government is spending over Rs 100 Crore for the extension works. 

According to news reports, Secretariat is likely to be set up at an educational institute in Boyapalem. The road connecting the airport and Boyapalem is spread over NAD, Gopalapatnam, Simhachalam, Hanumanthavaka, Madhuravada. The road is about 35km. The road extensions at crucial junctions are being considered to avoid traffic snarls during CM’s commute. 

As the extension of roads involves legal tussles, the government is mulling over whether to issue either TDR to the houses who lost their land to the road extension or to allot lands at specified locality.  Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Botsa Satyanarayana is overseeing the works ahead of the Capital shift to Vizag.
