‘Chinnari Pelli Kuthuru’ Bamma Died Of Cardiac Arrest

Bollywood actor and three-time National Award-winning actor Surekha Sikri has died in Mumbai at the age of 75. The actor died of a cardiac arrest on Friday. She was suffering from multiple health issues after suffering a brain stroke in 2020 and a paralytic stroke earlier in 2018.

“She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke. She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time. Om Sai Ram.” revealed the actor’s manager in a statement.

Surekha Sikri shot to fame all over the nation with the popular TV soap Balika Vadhu (Chinnari Pelli kuthuru in telugu). She was graduated from the National School of Drama (NSD) in 1971 and made her debut with 1978 political drama film Kissa Kursi Ka.

Kissa Kursi Ka, Tamas, Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro, Parinati, Mammo, Naseem, Sardari Begum, Sarfarosh, Zubeidaa, Mr. and Mrs. Iyer, Ghost Stories, and Badhaai Ho are her notable works.

She bagged National Awards for the films Tamas (1988), Mammo (1995), and Badhaai Ho (2018).

She married Hemant Rege and they have a son together, Rahul Sikri.
