Narayana Murthy’s Comments On Narappa

Venkatesh’s Narappa is one of the Telugu biggies that opted for a direct OTT release on Amazon Prime Video. This decision didn’t go well with fans, distributors, exhibitors, and a few of the film celebrities as well. Yesterday, veteran actor and director R. Narayana Murthy raised his voice against the decision of releasing the film directly on an OTT platform.

Speaking in a media interaction, Narayana Murthy said, “There is no source of entertainment for the poor man in India right now. Only 25% of the people who have OTT subscriptions have been able to watch Narappa. What about the rest 75% of the people?”

“Watching a film in theatres is no less than a celebration. I request the governments of both the Telugu states to reopen theatres. A poor man can go to the theatres to watch a film but he cannot do it on an OTT platform. Theatres make stars. There is no stardom to actors without theatres. The industry should make sure to release big films in theatres, not on OTT platforms,” he further added.

Meanwhile, the theatres across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are opening tomorrow with a couple of new releases.
