The resurgence of Indian men’s and women’s hockey teams at the recently held Tokyo Olympics brought back the glory of the sport in the country. Now, people started talking about the history and legacy of hockey in India.

Major Dhyan Chand’s name has become synonymous with Indian Hockey for many years. He is the father of the sport in India and helped us win many medals in the Olympics. Dhyan Chand won his first Olympic Gold medal at the age of 23. He won gold medals in 1928, 1932, and 1936.

The plans of making Dhayan Chand’s biopic are on cards in Bollywood for a long time. When Chak De India was released, filmmaker Ila Bedi Gupta and producer Pooja Shetty wanted to make this film with Shah Rukh Khan. But it didn’t get materialized.

Later, Shah Rukh bought the rights under his banner of Red Chillies Entertainments but wasn’t able to take the film on floors for many years. Finally, he sold the rights to Ronnie Screwvala.

Apparently, Ronnie is making sincere plans of starting this biopic. Abhishek Chaubey of Udta Punjab fame will direct the film. It seems that the makers are currently searching for a suitable young actor to play the lead role in it. The character travels between ages 23 and 40.

Thus, the team needs an actor who can pull off various age groups with ease. It is heard that Vicky Kaushal is in consideration but nothing is confirmed yet. We may get an official announcement about the film very soon.Works intensified for Dhyan Chand’s biopic
