OTT Effect: Coffee Shops Minting Good Money

In the days of web series, most of the stories are usually being shot in a single flat and the next best location we catch up is a coffee shop. And it looks like Coffee Shops in Film Nagar and the posh localities of Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills and Manikonda noticed this change as well.

Back then, when small time filmmakers or short film directors approached Coffee Shops, some of the places were offered for free by the owners in exchange for a courtesy credit. They used to think that such courtesy will bring popularity to the place. And now, times have changed.

These days most of the coffee shops are charging on hourly basis, and that too their price depends on the camera the makers use and the number of people along with the equipment that will be used in the premises. If camera is a costlier one, then coffee shop charge will be higher. These charges range from ₹ 1000 per hour at a medium sized coffee shop to ₹ 3500 at some elite cafes. And some cafes are putting up an outright ₹ 7000 to ₹ 10000 or 5-6 hours of shoots. Some cafes are asking for written agreements regarding credits along with this payment.

We must say that coffee shops are literally minting good money with people rushing to these places to shoot YouTube videos, web series and other stuff as well.
