Pawan Kalyan’s Remuneration – RGV’s Super Satire

One of the whackiest comments made by Minister Anil Kumar Yadav of the Andhra Pradesh government in recent times is that he asked Pawan Kalyan to reduce his remuneration from 50 crores, such that his films could be shown to Telugu audiences in AP at lower ticket prices. While none from the film industry actually gave a counter to this, finally maverick director Ram Gopal Varma responded to this.

“Looks like Minister Anil Kumar Yadav is quite ill-informed about the way films are made and how people get attracted to films. Only a hero’s face will pull the audience to theatres and there is nothing wrong in paying Pawan Kalyan such a hefty paycheck. Hero’s remuneration is also included in the cost of the project and there is no point talking about cutting a project cost by cutting hero’s remuneration”, said Varma, in a striking tone.

The talented director who keeps informed of everything to anything in the world has explained to Anil and others about the way branding works. “If you are buying a Mercedes car, you are buying it at a big price though the actual price of the total metal will be just 10% of it. You are actually paying money for the brand, but not the car in its scrap value. Similarly, a hero will pull the audience to theatre as he is a brand. It is an incredibly ridiculous thought process to say that cutting heroes’ remuneration will cut down movie’s budget” added Varma.

He also stated that films are made by the producer with a leap of faith and they should exercise their fundamental right of fixing the price of the ticket at whatever number they like. “Producers have all the right to fix an MRP and who is the government to interfere with it?” asks Varma.

We have to YSRC leaders like Perni Nani and Anil Kumar Yadav will now give a strong retort to Varma as well now.
