Nag, Chay Did Bangarraju In Their Own Styles: Kalyan Krishna

Director Kalyan Krishna made three out of his four directorial ventures under Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios. His latest flick Bangarraju with Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya will be releasing for Sankranthi. Here are excerpts from Kalyan’s interaction with media.

How’s your journey with Nagarjuna?
I narrated story of Soggade Chinni Nayana in 2014 and it was released in January in 2016. We decided to make sequel, the next day after the film’s release. However, Nag sir asked me to make another movie with Naga Chaitanya. After Rarandoy Veduka Chuddam, Chay was busy with other projects, so I made Nela Ticket in between. Nonetheless, Nag sir and I share good rapport with each other.

Is Bangarraju a perfect sequel or it has different setup?
Bangarraju is a sequel and it starts from where SCN ended. However, Ramu character played by Nag sir has limited scenes in the sequel. Lavanya character doesn’t have much importance, thus, we avoided it. Chay is the grandson of Bangarraju. Characterization is almost same, though Nag and Chay did it in their own style.

Who did guest appearance in song of the movie?
Ramya Krishna, Krithi Shetty, Meenakshi Dixit, Darshana Banik, Vedhika, Faria Abdullah and Daksha Nagarkar will appear in the special song.

What’s the biggest challenge to make this movie?
Making it on time with such big huge cast was the biggest challenge. The movie will have 32 mins of VFX. So, we planned accordingly. We had to race against time.

Are you releasing the movie, as RRR and Radhe Shyam postponed?
We started the movie with the target of releasing it for Sankranthi. Even though RRR and Radhe Shyam arrive for Sankranthi, we anyhow would have released Bangarraju for the festival. Censor officials didn’t suggest any cuts and they indeed told us that Bangarraju is a perfect movie for Sankranthi which is the first and best compliment for us.

How did you balance both Naga nd Chay’s characters?
Both characters have equal emotions, romance and other elements, including fights.

How important is music for the film?
Music is one of the main pillars of the movie. Anup’s BGM is other big asset and we turned emotional while watching the movie with re-recording.

What kind of care you took to design Nag’s character?
The character needs to look simple, but there’s flamboyance to it.

Tell us about Krithi Shetty’s role?
It’s a bubbly character. She has completed B-Tech and feels she’s the most talented.

What will be your next movie?
My next hasn’t decided yet. However, Gnanavel Raja of Green Studios will produce it.
