Venkatesh was the chief guest at the pre-release function of Kamal Haasana’s Vikram Telugu pre-release event in Hyderabad that was attended by Nithiin whose Sreshth Movies is releasing the movie in Telugu states and several Telugu directors.
Lokesh Kanagaraj said, “I thank all the guests and Telugu audience. The support I received for my movies in Telugu is overwhelming. I hope, the support continues for Vikram also. Come and watch the movie in theatres to see Kamal sir’s roaring action. He has done some incredible job.”
Nithiin, “It’s a privilege for us to release the film in Telugu. Kamal sir is the one and only legend of Indian cinema and pride of Indian cinema. He’s a rare piece and a masterpiece. I’m a big fan of Lokesh’s work. I loved his Khaidi. When a fan makes a film with their favorite star it will become a Gabbar Singh, Bheeshma and Akhanda. Fan boy knows how to show their favourite hero.”
Venkatesh said, “Kamal sir did Padaharella Vayasu in his early days of career. I got clean bowled after watching the film. He’s still stuck at 16. For every actor, Maro Charitra is a GPS. No actor now has the guts to do a film like Dasavatharam. He’s an actor par excellence. He became the first Pan India star with Ek Duje Ke Liye. Today, he’s the global star with his unparallel talent. Kaml sir is a phenomenon.
South Indian cinema has two eras- before Kamal sir and after Kamal sir. He smashed all the stereotypes. Every writer and technician started thinking differently. He has created that space. He’s an actor, director, writer, singer, choreographer, politician and a good human being. I wish him all the success for this film. I wish to work with him in a full-fledged film. I wish Nithiin and Sudhakar Reddy for taking such a wonderful film. It’s a blockbuster movie.”
Kamal Haasan said, “Before 40 to 45 years, I came here to Hyderabad as a dance assistant for a ANR’s film Srimanthudu. I’ve been eating Telugu food from then on, one way or the other. I’ve many hits here, that doesn’t mean I don’t have hits in other languages. I’m fortunate to have good directors.
I did 36 films with Balachander, and that is my Ph.D. He’s a fantastic actor. I’ve to say something about Venky. He needs not to work this hard. 30 years before, if he says rest of my life, is a holiday. It wouldn’t be a problem for him. He worked as hard as any actor. When he was at the top, he met me at Goa. When I asked, he said he didn’t come there for film festival, but to meet me. I said why. He said he was not happy with what he’s doing. He asked me what he should do. I told him what I knew, again he got another wave.
When we’re making Marmayogi, Venkatesh did audition. He did costume trial, photoshoot for a role. We didn’t make that film. It would have been a fantastic film in our career. We missed it.
I’ll have to thank Sudhakar Reddy. He’s become part of The Vikram family. I told him that please help us make history with Vikram. I’m saying this because the audience helped me creating history several times. Nobody can achieve alone. Even if you have a good director, you must have a good distributor. If you have a good distributor and good screens, you must have a good audience. I respect people like Lokesh who come from bottom. I remind Nithiin that don’t learn from Kamal, learn from Venky. You have to try hard. Work as hard as Venky, you’ll be the next superstar. That hard work, you need to do. If I had a father like Naidu, I would have been spoiled. Chennai has given lots of gifts to Andhra and he’s one of them.
I didn’t feel like I was acting with competition, while I was shooting alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil. I was working with brothers, who admired me. I’ve to return the admiration, because they deserved it. You saw the frames in the trailer, that’s the proof. They are soon going to become international stars. Give us strength to make Pan international films.
Vikram is intense and action-packed entertainer. Nobody got hurt while shooting for the film, which was first achievement by the director and his team. An incident happened in my movie set. It shouldn’t have happened.”
