Happy Birthday First Report From US Premieres

Happy Birthday, as mentioned in the trailer itself is a surreal crime comedy that involves many parallel stories in a non-linear screenplay.

The first half is entertaining with quirky comedy. Vennela Kishore enthralls us while Satya takes it to next level. Satya is a complete show-stealer and he dominates all whenever he appears. Be it his dialogue delivery, attitude, or expression, Satya is at his hilarious best. Lavanya Tripathi also did well in her part. Background music by Kaala Bhairava is one of the plus points of the movie. The crisp first half and the comedy entertain us. The interval is properly set for the second half.

The lengthier second half and the prolonged random comedy are not engaging. There are some scenes that completely test our patience and disconnect from the impressive part. Too many characters added in the second half make it too suffocating, and the main characters like Sathya and Lavanya had to lose their screen time to accommodate them.

The director’s creativity in comedy is visible and the meme stuff all over are connecting points to those who like them. Though the sarcastic comedy satisfies us, the clumsy parts of the second half are upright boring and disengaging. Overall, Happy Birthday is a freakish comedy that is hilarious in parts but loses its steam as it inches towards the end.
