Tollywood is witnessing a new demand from the heroes. Several directors are shocked with this demand of the heroes. Be it the stars or young heroes, this demand has now become a common thing. All the heroes who are hearing story narration from the directors are demanding for complete narration. Proper two-and-half hours full narration is what the heroes are demanding from the directors. With this move, several directors are holding their heads as it’s not easy to give a full-fledged narration. After the complete narration, some heroes are also asking the directors to provide a bound script with dialogue version. The heroes are seeking a lot of clarity from the directors who are approaching them.
With this, directors are struggling and working more to meet the demand. They have to impress the hero with full narration. So, producers are also informing the directors to prepare for this. The heroes are in no mood to take any risks. As some tasted failures, they are keen on making a bounceback with a good film. Even the heroes who tasted success are feeling more responsible and want to cement their position with a followup success. This is certainly a welcome development in the industry.
Even the directors who scored a success or blockbuster are facing this heat and hence their films are not getting started immediately. For example, Sukumar and Allu Arjun scored a blockbuster with Pushpa: The Rise in Dec 2021. During its release, Allu Arjun had announced that Pushpa: The Rule will hit the screens in Dec 2022. While Dec 2022 is around the corner, Pushpa: The Rule is yet to hit the floors. Harish Shankar’s Gaddalakonda Ganesh with Varun Tej was released in 2019 which was average at the BO. The director is yet to start his next. Buchi Babu Sana made debut with the blockbuster Uppena in early 2021. He is yet to start his next.
Trivikram Srinivas scored an industry blockbuster with Ala Vaikunthapurrammuloo in Sankranti 2020. It’s been over two years, he hasn’t started his next. Though he announced his next SSMB 28 with Mahesh Babu, we hear that Mahesh took a chunk of time to give his final nod. Apparently, Mahesh asked Trivikram to change the story and come up with a new one. This is a very clear indication that Mahesh is making his steps wisely. Koratala Siva scored a disaster with Acharya. While he had prior commitment with NTR (NTR 30), Tarak is in no mood to begin the film without a complete script in the pre-production stage itself.
Prabhas Radhe Shyam turned out to be a dud at the Box Office. Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger tasted becale at the ticket windows. Both the actors have decided to do films wisely now onwards and are leaving no stone unturned to make their next successful films. Prabhas has even postponed Adipurush and decided to make more changes to meet the high expectations carrying on the film. Nikhil and Adivi Sesh scored blockbusters with Karthikeya and Major. Both the actors are also making their moves smartly.
Even producers are happy with this demand of heroes as the wastage would be minimal or zero if the script is locked in the pre-production stage itself rather than making changes midway or doing more reshoots. Directors have to adapt to this style of functioning which is good for themselves as well as for the industry as a whole.
