After the super success of KGF at the box office, Mahesh Babu is the first one to call Prashanth Neel home and went for dinner with him. However, the negotiations to join hands failed, and the likes of Jr NTR and Prabhas succeeded in signing his films.
Around the same time, Arjun Reddy turned out to be a super hit and Mahesh was supposed to join hands with him immediately. But the buzz weakened on that film slowly, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga went to Bollywood to do Kabir Singh and Animal. Even after returning, he got Prabhas’ Spirit and Allu Arjun’s movie.
This is the case of not being able to turn meetings into projects, but then, they are times when directors kept waiting for him but he didn’t take off the projects. Sukumar waited for a year before going to Bunny and doing Pushpa.
Sekhar Kammula waited for a couple of years and finally did another film, before taking that same script to Danush. Looks like, if Mahesh Babu delays a director, surely other stars are likely to catch those projects.
