Director Venkatesh Maha seems to have been carried away by the heat of the discussion on the round table in the recent interview. At least that’s what some of his fans are arguing on social media to defend his ‘Neech Kamine’ comments about ‘Rocky Bhai’ character in KGF.
The others are having a field day as they continue to ridicule Venkatesh Maha and other directors who supported his argument. They say did an amazing job with C/o Kancharapalem, but that doesn’t make him superior to others in filmmaking. They emphasize that he can’t just say that other filmmakers lack that knowledge.
KGF fans along with neutral audiences who love movies underline that making so-called sensible movies is fine, but they always want entertainment over empowerment. One of them even brought up a part of the interview in which KGF director Prashant Neel clearly says he explains how KGF’s Rocky Bhai character emerges the way it is.
Prashant Neel says, ‘Rocky Bhai’s mother throws her influences and frustration in life on her son. No mother will tell her son that. She had so many hardships in life and she is dying just because she did not have money. So one thing she remembers about her life is money. She says she doesn’t care how he leads his life, but she asks him to have all the money when he dies. It could be looked at as an irresponsible statement. I am talking about a character. I am not here to preach. The result is that Rocky goes on to do many big things. And because he is doing big things, his mother is also getting highlighted. If he ended up being nothing, whatever his mother said would not have made sense. ‘
In a nutshell, Prashant Neel knows what he is doing and he also says that his Rocky Bhai character doesn’t preach anything. The character is the way it was written and not every character in every film will have to be an example for society.
