We have seen many super successful directors climbing one more step with each film and not many assistants of them get a chance of becoming film directors. But a star filmmaker is encouraging his assistants to become directors in a way that no other director has done before. He is director Sukumar.
Sukumar’s guidance and appreciation for his assistants are always pleasant discussions in the Telugu film circuit. Sukumar wants all his assistants to become successful directors. If we look at some films and the directors of them, it can be understood how strong is Sukumar’s determination.
Palnati Surya Pratap, Jakka Hari Prasad, Buchi Babu Sana, and Srikanth Odela are some directors who worked as Sukku’s assistants and their success rate is also commendable. Surya Pratap started his journey with Current but scored a big success with Kumari 21F and his 18 Pages are also a success.
Jakka Hari Prasad made his debut with ‘Darsakudu’ which did not receive much applause but his Playback is a moderate hit. Needless to mention Buchi Babu Sanas’ Uppena is a blockbuster. And finally, Srikanth Odela made an entry with Dasara that has kept his name ringing everywhere today.
Another director Srikanth Reddy is also coming with a Vaishnav Tej movie. Another assistant of Sukumar, Vemareddy entered into direction with Chakkiligintha and is planning something big very soon. Srikanth Vissa who garnered the name as a good writer also in his plans to make a directional debut.
It looks like the next-gen filmmakers’ list has a lot of domination from Sukumar’s school, just like the talent from ‘The Varma film factory’ did years back. In the competitive world of films, a director like Sukumar who believes that his assistants should also be successful is the ‘Real Guruji’.
