Once upon a time, there came a film titled “Allari”. At a time when the whole of Telugu films are being made in cinemascope format, the film’s 4:3 aspect ratio display, colour coded visuals and the differently styled cinematography have surprised many. That day, the comedian who was known only for negative shaded roles suddenly became popular as a creative director. The name is ‘Allari’ Ravibabu.
Though the director has his own share of hits and flops, some of his movies like Anasuya, Amaravathi, Soggadu and Avunu are talked about for their technical brilliance, slapstick comedy, Hollywood-like songs and the gripping narrative as well, though they belong to different genres. And that Ravibabu has recently made a movie Adhugo with a real piglet, and though the film is boring, his experiment got noticed again. But then, he wants to unwind everything like how a Ram Gopal Varma is doing it seems to be.
Ravi’s latest film Crush is absolutely A-rated stuff which only adults could bear to watch, but only watch for themselves without any company as the trailer itself is filled with loads of double entendres, explicit gestures and sounds nothing short of a soft-porn movie. Maybe the director must have thought that he is missing out to score hits because he is missing out to insert this adult stuff in his films, and hence this b-grade film.
Actually Ravi’s Allari was also A-rated stuff but still, it has worthy narration that whole of audiences could watch it comfortably. He narrated topics related to sex like narrating some poetry. And now, going through his latest film trailer, viewers feels that he has carved out a complete YouTube range b-grade flick that few people churn out for the sake of money. At this juncture, film audiences are requesting him humbly to not become another Varma.
