Tamil Directors With Telugu Heroes – A Look Back Into Past

There is one most popular meme video of Venu Madhav from Nenithe movie that almost all movie buffs should be knowing. Whenever a star hero signs a movie with a Tamil director, a section of the hero’s fans bring up this meme, because the results of such films in the last few years say so.

There is no denying that Tamil directors gave some evergreen movies like Geetanjali, Bommarillu, Manam, and Tholi Prema to Telugu heroes, but if we have to look back at the list, the biggest flops our heroes had were from Tamil directors. Directors like Bommarillu Bhaskar, Vikram Kumar, and Karunakaran have worked on Telugu films mainly and they gave at least one blockbuster each.

Coming to our Telugu heroes who believed in Tamil directors, Pawan Kalyan has done four films including Kushi, Bangaram, Puli, and Panjaa. Kushi was a big hit, Puli was a disaster and the remaining two were average.

Nani acted in three films with Tamil directors and all of them were disasters. Sega with Anjana Ali Khan, Yeto Vellipoindi Manasu with Gautam Menon, and Jenda Pai Kapiraju with Samuthirakani, all of them ended up as failures.

Naga Chaitanya has worked with Gautam Menon for two movies Ye Maaya Chesave and Sahasam Swasaga Saagipo in which YMC was super successful and the other one was a debacle. The recent one Custody in Vikram Prabhu’s direction also garnered a flop talk.

Mahesh Babu scored two biggest embarrassments with Tamil directors. One is Nani with Sj Suryah and the other is Spyder with AR Murugadoss. The same director scored a hit with Chiranjeevi’s Stalin.

Ram did Ganesh and The Warriorr, and Vijay Deverakonda came up with NOTA, out of which only a few turned out as average films while the remaining are the biggest flops for our heroes. Raviteja did Sambho Siva Sambho and Daruvu. Gopichand acted in Shankham and Shouryam with director Siva who made Daruvu with Raviteja.

If we dig more into the past, we have Venkatesh’s share of hits and flops with Tamil directors in Adavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule, Vasantham, Kalisundam Raa, Ganesh, Gemini, Guru. Balakrishna has Maharathi, Ruler, and Jai Simha, while Chiranjeevi had Daddy and Sneham Kosam. Nagarjuna’s list has Gaganam, and Mass among a few others.

There are more films to list down, but it is the recent set of disaster films that is scaring the fans of Telugu heroes more than ever. It has to be seen how Ram Charan’s Game Changer in Shankar’s direction and #PKSDT in Samuthirakani’d direction will fare at box office.
