Tiger Nageswara Rao: Not An Official Biopic?

Already the teaser of the upcoming film, Mass Raja Raviteja’s “Tiger Nageshwara Rao”, is creating a storm in the circuits for its intense portrayal of the biggest thief. However, for folks who thought that this is a biopic movie, the line “Based on true rumours” right before the beginning of the trailer is acting like a shocker.

In fact, Stuartpuram village based Nageswara Rao is a notorious dacoit back in the 1970-80s, and he indulged in various robberies across coastal Andhra and Tamilnadu as well. He escaped from high secure Madras prison for which he earned the monicker ‘Tiger’, and also took part in some chilling bank robberies in towns like Kurnool. Finally, he’s said to have got encountered in 1987, while some say that he retired to his village, leading a peaceful life. Going by the teaser, one could understand easily that Raviteja’s movie is all about this.

Now that “Tiger Nageswara Rao” is coming, it looks like due to legal reasons the production house is not claiming that Tiger Nageswara Rao is an official biopic of notorious Stuartpuram thief Nageswara Rao. Or maybe the makers have fictionialised the content to a larger extent that they don’t want to call it a biopic.

As many are wondering how would the director showcase this character as a hero when in real life Nageswara Rao is all about dacoity, we can’t ignore the element of ‘fiction’ here, so not logical to call a biopic, isn’t it?
