Why Suriya’s ‘Jai Bhim’ Missed Award?

National awards always stir up debates across industries. While the Tollywood community revels in its remarkable achievements, others ponder over their own misses.

One movie, in particular, has sparked intense discussions – “Jai Bhim.” This emotionally charged courtroom drama, helmed by TJ Gnanavel, delves into social disorders and injustices. Despite its direct OTT release, the film garnered unanimous acclaim from both critics and audiences, becoming a resounding success.

Surprisingly, “Jai Bhim” didn’t secure a spot in any category. Fans express that both Suriya and Allu Arjun have rightful claims, with Allu Arjun being truly deserving. However, a broader perspective is necessary. In 2020, Suriya won the Best Actor award for “Surarai Potru” (Akasham Nee Haddura), and “Jai Bhim” comes from the same production company. Awarding the same actor twice in a row is a rare occurrence historically.

Considering this, it’s evident that numerous films and actors, in the past and present, have narrowly missed out on awards. Accusations of discrimination against “Jai Bhim” might not hold water. It’s essential to acknowledge that the Southern film industries – Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam – share a common umbrella and shouldn’t be segregated. Kollywood’s Madhavan deservedly received recognition for “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” as the best film, signifying that the industry has its fair share of ups and downs.
