Salaar And Ugramm Story Talk: Why Is It Not Needed?

Salaar

Like how it happened during the announcement of Salaar, now that Superstar Prabhas’ picked up a new release date in December 2023, rumours are popping up once again about the story of this movie. While it was thought for many days that Salaar happens to be the story of the young Muslim guy Farmaan, whose character disappears in KGF 2, indicating his death, another rumour is about the plotline of the movie.

Ever since Salaar was announced, the rumour has been that the film will be on the lines of Prashanth Neel’s debut movie Ugramm. Now that music composer Ravi Basrur has quoted somewhere (which needs to be verified) that Salaar depicts more of Ugramm than KGF, people started saying that Prashanth Neel is remaking his own movie. Well, this is something we have to seriously disagree with, and there is a reason for that.

First of all, “Ugramm” story itself doesn’t hold any freshness because it has this well-known plot of a villain’s son kidnapping the daughter of someone who has sent his father to jail, and a hero saving her, is an age-old story we have seen in many films that features India’s big superstars. However, what made the film interesting was the way Neel narrated it with his own trademark screenplay. Even KGF has a similar plotline to Ugramm, and all the visuals we have seen regarding KGF regarding the gold fields were actually shown in Ugramm too but in a not-so-stylized way. So, narrating such action films is Neel’s forte and comparing the storylines doesn’t hold any good here, as his non-linear narrative technique that involves drama is what makes an impact there.

On the other hand, the Salaar team is said to be readying an intense action teaser followed by another intense emotional teaser of the movie, and that would make the ‘dinosaur’ lead the storm yet again.
