Curious Case of early shows of Tiger 3 in TN

Salman Khan’s new film “Tiger 3” created a buzz across the nation including South India. However, in Tamilnadu, as it was allowed to screen at 7 o’clock in the morning on its release day, it stirred a controversy. As per the rule, the state prohibits screenings before 9 am, even for big hero movies. But somehow, the rule was not applied for Tiger 3.

This situation mirrored the controversy around Rajinikanth’s “Jailer” earlier. A similar situation was faced for “Leo” as well. Now, the Kollywood fans question why Salman Khan received special treatment, while Leo faced permission issues and subsequent cancellations.

Government representatives argue that permissions for early shows are typically granted on non-working days, and since “Tiger 3” released on a Sunday, the usual condition did not apply. While there is logic in this explanation, it has not been emphasized in the past.

Fans and buyers express objections, citing instances where special shows for Leo and Jailer on the third day were canceled. Kollywood movie enthusiasts express concern about these restrictions, especially as Udayanidhi Stalin, the son of CM Stalin and a minister-cum-actor, has not taken steps to address the issue, leading to protests.

There are divided opinions on this move in the state and the fans are still unhappy with the turn around of events in the state. We have to see if the government grants permission for a Tamil film, anytime soon.
