Singer Vijay Lakshmi alias Mallika Rajput was found dead in her house in Sitakund locality of Kotwali Police station area, Uttar Pradesh.
The body of a 35-year-old singer was found hanging from a fan in a room. Police are suspecting it as a suicide.
Mallika Rajput acted with Kangana Ranaut in Revolver Rani in 2014. She later appeared in the music video for the song Yaara Tujhe by Shaan. Mallika joined the BJP in 2016 but she left the party two years later.
She was a trained Kathak dancer and she started writing and performing her own ghazals at several poetry sessions.
Mallika’s mother Sumitra Singh did not know when the incident took place as the family was sleeping.
The cause of death would be known after the postmortem.
