If A Producer Wraps Film On Planned Budget, He’s Great

The usual question that is posed to Producers at most media interactions is if they wrapped the film under the budget they had planned initially. Now that producer KK Radha Mohan is coming up with the costliest film of his career, Gopichand’s Bhimaa, Gulte.com asked him how he managed to wrap the film in the needed budget. He’s an interesting thing to answer.

“No producer will be able to wrap a movie under the budget he has initially planned. Definitely, the budget will be shot up due to various factors including that of the director’s vision as filmmakers want every frame to look grand. Sometimes natural causes like rains, lack of artists’ dates, and location costs on the go, will heap up on the planned budget”, Radha Mohan says. He also gave clarity on how much excess will be spent in reality while he praised the ones who could wrap in planned budgets.

“Any producer who wraps his film on the initially planned budget is ‘great’, but then, there will be a 30-40% increase in the spending by the time the project gets wrapped. The ability of the producer lies in whether he would spend 50% more or control that to just 30%”, articulates Radha Mohan.

Coming to Bhimaa, he stated that the film was wrapped in decent budget, and they have already sold the OTT rights to Hotstar, thus getting some breathing space. Including dubbing rights, audio and theatrical rights sales, Bhimaa is a safe project as per Radha Mohan. The Gopichand starrer releases on March 8th.
