Legendary director K Viswanath expressed grief over the death of this super hit Hindi movie’s lead actor Rishi Kapoor. The 90-year-old director recalled how working with Rishi on the sets of “Sargam” used to be. He revealed that the Bollywood Superstar got fascinated by the Godavari in Rajahmundry back then.

In 1979, K Viswanath has remade his super hit Telugu film “Siri Siri Muvva” (1976) in Bollywood as ‘Sargam’ with Rishi Kapoor reprising the role of Chandramohan. The film also marked the debut of Jayaprada in Bollywood.

“Back then, Bollywood stars used to be quite late to sets, but Rishi stated that he will come by 10.30 every day, not before that. And he is on time all days, and never complained of extra days too” says Viswanath, who has made the film turn blockbuster in Hindi as well.

Shot in the picturesque locales of Kashmir, Ooty and Godavari river banks in Rajahmundry as well, Viswanath reveals, “Rishi liked the Godavari so much that he always wanted to go back there at some time. But we haven’t collaborated after that film again”.

Back then, various barriers have restricted Telugu directors and Hindi stars to blur the barriers, but still Rishi Kapoor and K Viswanath have pulled off a miracle we must say.

Born in 1952, 67 year old Rishi Kapoor breathed his last yesterday.
