Kangana & Rangoli Won’t Be Arrested For Now

Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel are protected by the Bombay High court from being arrested. The Bombay High Court ordered them to appear before the Mumbai police on January 8.

Kangana and Rangoli are facing accusations by the police for making comments on social media that provoke communal tension. The charges filed by the Mumbai police include promoting enmity, sedition and hurting religious sentiments. Casting director Munawwar Ali Sayyed filed a complaint against Kangana and Rangoli.

However, the High Court heard Kangana’s request to cancel the case and said they should honor the summons irrespective of the reasons they have on their side. Kangana Ranaut earlier said she could not respond to the summons as there was a family wedding going on.

Questioning the need to add sedition charges against Kangana in this case, the court said ‘It has become a trend to add 124A IPC (sedition) in the complaint. What is the need? Are we treating our citizens like this?’.

The court gave them protection from arrest for now and ordered police not to take any coercive action against them. Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli skipped three summons. There were to be present on October 26 and 27 and on November 9 and 10 and also on November 23 and 24. Kangana’s lawyer said they were busy with their brother’s wedding in Himachal Pradesh till November 15.

Kangana Ranaut had already been in controversies and loggerheads with the Mumbai government and police. Kangana’s criticism against the Mumbai government in Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case has not gone well. She went on to compare Mumbai with PoK.
