Jr NTR Moves Delhi High Court Over Personality Rights

Many actors across India have recently moved to court to protect their identity from unauthorised use. With the rise of AI tools and a spike in online content, fake videos, voice clones and unapproved promotional material have become more common. This has pushed several film stars to seek legal safeguards over their name, image and likeness.

In this context, Jr NTR has now approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights. The case was taken up on Monday, where his legal team pointed out infringing and defamatory content on various social media platforms and e-commerce sites.

The Court directed these platforms to treat his plea as a formal complaint under the IT Rules 2021 and respond within three days. The matter will be heard again on December 22, when the Court is expected to issue a detailed order.

Personality rights cover elements such as a person’s name, voice, photograph, signature, likeness and other identifiable traits. Several actors, including Mohan Babu, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn, have filed similar suits in recent years. Their main concern is the misuse of their identity through AI-generated deepfakes, unauthorised ads, scam promotions and political edits.

On the work front, Jr NTR is preparing for the next schedule of Dragon, directed by Prashanth Neel. The film is planned as a two-part release, with the first part slated for the first half of 2027.
