Idhar Ka Maal Udhar: More Telugu Movies Learning Hindi

Ever since Aamir Khan remade the movie Ghajini in 2008, Bollywood started taking a giant leap into the South Indian Industry and went forward with remakes of hit movies to kick-start many Actor careers. From Salman Khan to Shahid Kapoor, actors have enacted in the super-hit Tollywood movies, entering into the 100Crore club.

Salman Khan gleamed with success after re-making Telugu hits like Pokiri, Ready, Kick, Stalin, and many other movies from the Tamil and Malayalam industry. Shahid Kapoor also managed to enter the 100 Crore club with the remake of Telugu hit, Arjun Reddy. Now, it seems like the Bollywood biggies are keen on bagging Telugu hits for profits.

Here’s a list of upcoming Telugu movies that are going to be remade in Bollywood.

Jersey with Shahid Kapoor

Actor Nani had a successful run with the movie, Jersey in Telugu. Directed by, Gowtam Tinnanuri the movie is about a retired cricketer who wants to make a comeback into the field for his son. Nani is a terrific actor who always gets into the skin of the character. In Jersey, Nani just lived in the character. Jersey is now being remade in Hindi.

Shahid Kapoor is playing the role of Nani in the Hindi-remake and Gowtam Tinnanuri will be directing the remake as well. Shahid is also an excellent actor and he is sure to enthrall us in an emotional drama like this.

Especially, the Father-son scenes and the cricket scenes are expected to become highlights in Hindi too. Shahid Kapoor’s previous South-remake Kabir Singh attracted brickbats, but Jersey will be melting the hearts.

RX 100 with Ahan Shetty

RX 100 was set in a village backdrop with the classic poor-boy, rich girl Telugu tale. However, the twists in the movie were not what the audience expected. The movie showed the ugly side of one-sided love and roared in success with the Telugu audience.

RX100 is being remade in Hindi as “Tadap” and being directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The lead actors in the movie would be played by Ahan Shetty and Tara Sutaria
Sunil Shetty’s son, Ahan will be making his debut with this adaptation and the movie would be Tara Sutaria’s third movie.

Although Tadap is going to be made as a pan India movie, the audience does not want to be disappointed in the storytelling and the essence of the original movie. Tara Sutaria has previously disappointed everyone with her performance in the movie Student of The Year 2. So, let’s wait and see her performance in the movie.

Bhaagamathie with Bhumi Pednekar

The audience was drawn to the edge of their seats with Anushka’s terrific performance in Bhaagamathie. The horror thriller engaged the audience throughout the movie with unexpected twists.

The film is being made as “Durgamati” in Hindi and Bhumika Padnekar will be playing the role of Anushka Shetty. The trailer of Durgamati was released the other day and the Telugu audience found it disappointing. Though it appears to be a frame to frame copy from the original, Bhumi Pednekar could not fill in the shoes of Anushka, in acting and appearance.

Another similar genre film Laxmii recently released only to get ripped apart by the reviews for overdoing and being too loud. Now that Durgamati is not leaving a single frame or setting out from the original, we have to see how the plot and twists work for the OTT audience. It might work well for those who have not watched Bhaagamathie.

The movie is being presented by Akshay Kumar and Bhushan Kumar and directed by the same director, G. Ashok.

HIT with Rajkummar Rao

HIT is an unexpected super-hit for the Tollywood industry. The movie was a major break-through for the lead actor Vishwak Sen. The movie revolves around a police officer who has to keep his personal tragedy aside and focus on finding a missing woman. The movie is being remade into Hindi by director Sailesh Kolanu and produced by Dil Raju. The lead actor in the film would by Rajkummar Rao.

Rajkummar Rao has had a fair share of box office hits in the industry for a while now. His recent movie, Chalaang has done fairly on Amazon Prime Video. But, the monotone of the movie was not well appreciated by the viewers. So, it would be interesting to see if Rajkummar Rao can do justice to the movie like Vishwak Sen or not.

Apart from these movies, many other Tollywood films are being bought and brought into Hindi. Karan Johar is said to have bagged the remake rights of “Dear Comrade”. The movies, Brocehvaruevarura, Ninu Vedani Needanu Nene are also amongst the movies waiting to be made into Hindi.
