The last quarter of 2025 has so far been underwhelming for Telugu film industry because none of the notable releases after Pawan Kalyan’s OG managed to make a solid impact on the box office. While other language films like Kantara Chapter 1 and Dhurandhar did evoke good response, Balakrishna’s much hyped Akhanda 2 fell slightly short of trade expectations.
As 2025 draws to a close, Tollywood trade circles are hoping that promising releases during the Christmas festival end the year on a positive note. As many as seven films including dubbing releases will hit the screens on December 25th, aiming to cash in the long Christmas weekend and the forthcoming New Year eve.
Films like Champion, Sambhala, Patang, Dhandoraa and Eesha will test their luck at the box office this week. Prominent other language films like Vrushaba and Mark are also in the fray with their dubbed versions. If any of these films garner positive word of mouth, the next two weeks run till Sankranti season will be enough to secure decent profits.
Among these releases, Roshan’s sports drama Champion and Aadhi’s mythical thriller Sambhala have been carrying a strong buzz, thanks to the impressive pre-release promotions. The teasers and trailers of both these films struck a chord with moviegoers and generated good hype. Small films Eesha, Patang and Dhandoraa also managed to draw the attention with their promising content.
Malayalam superstar Mohan Lal’s fantasy drama Vrusshabha will also find some interest among film lovers in Telugu states because of the visually appealing trailers. Kannada Superstar Sudeep, who is quite familiar here, will be offering an action feast with his cop drama Mark.
With two weeks left for Sankranti showdown from a flurry of big-ticket films, the Christmas releases will look to wind up the year on a positive note at the box office.
