Dhurandhar Is All Set to Create a Historic Record

Who would have thought that an ‘A’ rated film which stirred up controversies and got labelled as a propaganda film by a section of viewers will become the biggest grosser of the year in less than three weeks.

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar has achieved the unthinkable in just 17 days and is now eyeing a historic feat in the next few days. The spy thriller laced with patriotic elements has been on a record breaking spree since its release on December 5th and has now emerged as the highest grossing film of the year by dethroning the top collecting films like Chhaava and Kantara Chapter 1.

According to the makers, Dhurandhar has amassed 870 Crores gross by the end of 17 days to take the number one spot at the box office this year. This is a mind-blowing achivement considering that the film initially received mixed reports and also because it was rated with A certificate. It is now set to become the first film with such a rating to join the prestigious 1000 Crore club.

Dhurandhar took a decent opening with an impressive haul in the first weekend. But, due to the glowing word of mouth, the film gained tremendous momentum with each passing day and ended the first week with 218 Crores. Continuing its spectacular run, the Aditya Dhar never showed any signs of fatigue at the box office and collected terrific numbers in the second week with 261.5 Crores haul.

Refusing to slow down despite the release of Avatar 3, Dhurandhar romped towards the 800 Crores mark during the third weekend and shocked trade circles and critics. On last Sunday, the film punched out a staggering 40 Crores gross to overpower the lifetime collections of Kantara Chapter 1 to emerge as the biggest box office perfomer of the year.

With Christmas holidays and New year eve round the corner, it only gives more strength for Dhurandhar to emulate more records in the next few days. It will soon join the elite list of 1000 Crore grossers and set the tone for the second part which will is likely to trigger a massive buzz before its release.
