Popular South music composer and Kollywood actor GV Prakash is one of the kind-hearted celebrities who always comes forward to help the needy. His philanthropic side was revealed several times in the past when he offered financial assistance to individuals in dire situations. Unfortunately, his kindness and helping nature made him a victim of online fraud due to which he lost 20,000 rupees on Thursday.
Going into the story, an anonymous user on X with profile name @prasannasathis posted an image of an elderly woman who passed away long back and claimed her to be his mother. The person further concocted a story that her mother was the only one who looked after the family after their father deserted them. He tagged GV Prakash and requested monetary help to complete the final rites of her mother.
Moved by the plight of the person, GV Prakash immediately transferred 20,000 rupees through UPI and proved his generosity. Quite shockingly, it was later discovered by netizens that the image was a fake one which was retrieved from Google and the entire ordeal posted by the cheater turned out to be a fabricated story just to scam celebrities.
By the time the fake sympathy has been exposed, GV Prakash has already transferred the amount to the scamster who stopped lifting calls. Many users have started calling out the individual for spoiling the trust on social media as such incidents might result in ignoring genuine requests in future. Some have tagged Tamil Nadu police authorities to take immediate action on the person for his fake claims.
