Usually, there is no active censoring for OTT content in India, which is why audiences expect uncut and uncensored versions once films land on streaming platforms.
That expectation took a hit with Dhurandhar, as Netflix initially released a version that was shorter than the theatrical print, with muted cuss words and poor colour grading compared to the theatrical version, leaving fans disappointed and vocal on social media.
However, in a surprising turnaround today, Netflix has reportedly updated a new Dhurandhar version with a much higher bitrate. The updated version reportedly comes with a 12.56 mbps bitrate compared to the earlier 1.79 mbps version.
This is nearly six times more data, promising a significantly better viewing quality, something rarely seen on Netflix for AV1 content.
While this update improves the technical quality of Dhurandhar on Netflix to an extent, fans are still keenly watching to see if the platform will also address concerns regarding cuts and censoring, an issue that has followed Netflix since the Animal episode and now Dhurandhar as well.
