Rajpal Yadav Gets Interim Bail, Walks Out of Tihar Jail

Actor Rajpal Yadav walked out of the Tihar jail after the Delhi High Court granted him bail in connection with the cheque bounce case. After spending 13 days in the jail, the Delhi High Court granted him interim bail till March 18.

During the previous hearing, the court had asked the complainant to file his response. During today’s hearing, Rajpal deposited Rs 1.5 crore into the complainant’s bank account, basing on the directions by the court earlier. The court directed Yadav to surrender his passport, which means he cannot leave the country without permisson.

Amid heavy security and mediamen, Rajpal Yadav left the jail premises. Speaking to media after the release, Yadav said that he had been in Bollywood for 30 year. He expressed gratitude to the people in the country for watching his films and encouraging him.

Yadav thanked the netizens for their love towards him on social media. He said he attended every single hearing of the court and would continue to do so. “Thank you High Court, you gave me a chance to share my side of the story,” he said.

Yadav was lodged in the jail in connection with a financial dispute to the tune of Rs 9 crore dating back to 2010. The actor borrowed Rs 5 crore from Murali Projects Pvt. Ltd. to finance his film Ata Pata Paapata.

Trouble began after the film bombed at the box office, leaving him in a huge debt. In the succeeding years, he issued several cheques towards repayment but they bounced and this led to a legal battle.

Several actors including Salman Khan, Priyadarshan, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Chaudhary and others offered financial assistance to Yadav. His wife thanked the actors for their support during the crisis. Bail does not end Yadav’s problems as the legal case will continue.
