‘A’ Hurdle For Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic?

This year’s Summer will kick off on an exciting note for Indian cinema with the clash of two heavyweights as Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic will vie at the box office on March 19th. Trade circles are betting big on this epic face-off.

While Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 will be aiming to capitalise on the high expectations due to the mammoth success of the first installment, Toxic is riding on the massive stardom attained by Yash after the stupendous pan-India success of KGF 2.

Interestingly, both films have one common factor which is likely to play a significant role in deciding the box office range depending on how moviegoers react after they hit the screens.

As Dhurandhar was packed with unbridled aggression and excessive violence, the sequel is expected to feature a similar dose of bloodbath in major portions due to the hype and hysteria among audiences.

Now, the makers of Toxic also dropped enough hints with today’s teaser that the Yash starrer will be a gritty tale with unapologetically bold content in the form of explicit scenes and gory action episodes.

So, it is clear that both Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic will be censored with A certificates without any doubt. Usually, A rated movies find it difficult to attract family audiences and this will be an undoing factor as far as collections are concerned even after getting positive reviews and decent word of mouth.

It would be interesting to see if the gamble to come up with full-length violence dominated scripts pays off and whether both films can create wonders at the box office despite receiving A certificates.
