Route Cleared For Kerala Story 2 Release

The legal battle surrounding Kerala Story 2 has taken a dramatic turn. Just when it appeared that the film’s release would be stalled indefinitely, the Kerala High Court Division Bench has now lifted the interim stay, clearing the immediate hurdle for the makers.

Earlier, a single bench led by Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas had imposed a 15-day interim stay on the film’s release. The movie, which was scheduled to hit screens on February 27, 2026, could not arrive in theatres as planned due to the order and ticket money was being refunded.

Petitions were filed seeking a suspension of the release and cancellation of its censor certificate, arguing that the content might disturb communal harmony and portray the state in a negative light.

The court had previously questioned whether the Central Board of Film Certification had carefully examined the implications of approving a film that claims to be inspired by true events.

However, in a fresh development, a Division Bench has stayed the earlier interim order, effectively lifting the restriction on the film’s release. With the legal roadblock temporarily cleared, all eyes are now on when the film will be available in theaters.
