A day before the release of Ustaad Bhagat Singh, the makers of the film came before the media and took questions.
Gulte.com’s Journalist Nishant asked Producer Naveen Yerneni if they under-estimated the impact of Dhurandhar 2 in the Telugu States as they preponed the film by a week to clash with the Bollywood film.
“We did not under-estimate Dhurandhar 2. I myself watched the first part thrice in theaters. It was one of the best films in recent times. I know it will open with 100 Crore and will be the first film to score 1000 Crore from the single language,” he said.
He even analyzed that Toxic would have been a bigger threat than Dhurandhar 2.
“Toxic has deeper penetration in Telugu. So, it would have been a big competition. Dhurandhar 2 will have much impact in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Vishakapatnam. Moreover, we are talking about Pawan Kalyan film in Telugu,” Naveen added.
We are in to the fifth day of the release and it is clear that Mythri has under-estimated the Dhurandhar 2 impact. The Telugu Version of the movie did not release until Saturday due to technical issues.
In many stations across the Telugu States, Dhurandhar 2 occupancies and collections are more than Ustaad’s. The situation would have been worse if the Telugu Version did not release two days late.
The collections of D2 are more even in Muslim-dominated areas as per a distribution in Rayalaseema.
The Hindi Version is in complete dominance in USA and Hyderabad while the Telugu Version is in the complete control even in the B and C centers.
In some areas, Ustaad Bhagat Singh is receiving the Overflows of Dhurandhar 2.
Harish Shankar and Naveen repeatedly mentioned that some distributors pressured them to prepone the film. Clearly, they were misguided. Ustaad did not even take the Festival Advantage (Ugadi and Eid) as they hoped.
