Dacoit Has Less Fights, More Stunts: Sesh

Adivi Sesh’s love-and-action drama Dacoit has created a strong impression, especially with its theatrical trailer in both Telugu and Hindi. Sesh says people have even asked for a Bhojpuri release, likely because of Pawan Singh’s presence.

While Sesh’s earlier films also featured love tracks, he says the love story in Dacoit is truly unique. “In my previous films, the love story was usually a stepping stone to a larger plot. It remained a smaller part of the narrative. But here, the love story is the plot. This entire film exists because of it. When you go to an action film and see a bit of love, you may feel disappointed. But when you go to a love story and find action woven into it, you feel happy. All the emotions in this film are organic.”

Sesh also danced for the first time in Dacoit. “I was very inspired by Hari’s character, he speaks openly, without filters. I practised the Madanapalle accent so much that I started speaking it at home. My mom even asked, ‘Why are you talking like this?’ Because of the character and the situation in the film, I ended up dancing for the first time.”

He shares the idea behind the Dolby release: “From the beginning, we wanted Dacoit to release in Dolby. Later, Allu Aravind garu called, saying the film looked very promising and suggested collaborating. That made me really happy.”

Sesh calls producer Supriya Yarlagadda the backbone of the film. “Supriya is a gem. She’s very patient and absolutely ego-free.”

Talking about the action sequences, Sesh says they were extremely demanding. “I injured my knee, which delayed the film by two to three months and even impacted Goodachari 2. Doctors advised me to avoid action for six months. This film has less fights but more stunts. We shot on huge mountains, with the climax filmed in 45-degree heat.”

He also explains the inclusion of a Mahesh Babu dialogue. “It came very naturally during the writing process. It fit the situation perfectly.”

Sesh praises Mrunal Thakur as a phenomenal performer. “She truly feels the emotion of the scene, even off-camera. After doing a scene with her, I was surprised by her intensity. It pushed me to elevate my own performance.”

Sesh is confident that Dacoit will emerge as another big hit in his career.
