Malayalam Cinema Making 100cr A Cakewalk?

Malayalam cinema is witnessing a remarkable surge at the box office, delivering back-to-back ₹100 crore grossers and redefining its market strength. Just a few weeks ago, Aadu 3 created waves by entering the elite ₹100 crore club, and now Vaazha 2 has followed suit in style, achieving the milestone within just seven days of its release.

This consistent success marks a significant shift for the Malayalam film industry, which was once considered limited in scale compared to other industries. Today, the scenario has completely changed, with Malayalam stars gaining massive popularity and their films drawing strong theatrical footfalls.

The rise of OTT platforms has played a crucial role in expanding the reach of Malayalam cinema, introducing its content-driven storytelling to a wider audience across the country and beyond.

In recent times, films like Lokah, led by a female protagonist Kalyani Priyadarshan, crossing the ₹300 crore mark further highlight this transformation. Strong content, realistic storytelling, and solid technical execution have become the backbone of Mollywood’s success.

As audiences increasingly appreciate quality cinema, Malayalam films are no longer niche but mainstream contenders at the box office, setting new benchmarks with every release. The efforts that the likes of Mammootty and Mohanlal put through all these years by encouraging content based cinema is finally bearing solid fruits.
