The theatre controversy in the Telugu film industry took an unexpected turn today with the producers coming forward to counterattack the press meet of exhibitors held yesterday. With each party sharing their views and opinions, everyone has a point to make from their own point of view.
But what’s going to turn ugly is that this is happening at a time when Peddi is set to have a grand release next month. If the situation continues to get worse, Peddi might lose a chance to get screened in single screens.
Mythri Ravi openly acknowledged the fact that the film Peddi is being targeted at the moment. If the exhibitors continue to stress their demands and in the case that they are unmet, the film will be limited to multiplexes alone. The consequences will then be unpleasant for both fans and the film industry.
If Peddi is screened only in multiplexes, it will undoubtedly create a ticket shortage, also resulting in high demand for the film. However, there won’t be repeat viewers due to the hiked ticket prices and the cost of a ticket in a multiplex.
It will reduce the footfalls for the film over a period of time. At the same time, the profits generated from single screens is more when compared to multiplexes. So, when the film does not get a chance to get screened in single screens, it will reduce the profits.
On the other hand, the fans who want to celebrate a big hero’s film amidst hungama and hoopla will have to contain all their excitement. Its been a while since a big hero’s film arrived in theatres and Peddi is a film to be celebrated in single screens amidst big crowds.
