Mobile App For Covid-19 Vaccine Delivery

After having designed and launched mobile app like Aarogya Setu that helped in tracing Covid-19 patients and other apps to trace the availability of beds for Covid patients in various hospitals, the central government, now, introduced a new digital platform ‘Co-WIN’ for the delivery of Covid-19 vaccine.

A mobile app with the same name will allow people to register for the vaccine. The platform will be helpful in recording vaccine data and will also form a database of healthworkers too. At present, all data related to delivery of Covid vaccine is being uploaded on Co-WIN platform.

The app will have separate modules for administrator, registration, vaccination, beneficiary acknowledgement and reports. Once people start to register for the app, the platform will upload bulk data on co-morbidity provided by local authorities.

The mobile app of CO-WIN is yet to be available for smart phone users. The app will have different modules catering to the entire process of Covid-19 vaccination starting from registration to verification.

The digital platform will also be used to send real time temperature details of storage facilities to the main servers. The vaccination module will verify beneficiary details and update vaccination status while the beneficiary acknowledgement module will send SMS to beneficiaries and also generate QR-based certificates once a person gets vaccinated.

Meanwhile, an expert panel is scheduled to meet today to review the applications of three Covid-19 vaccines candidates, being developed by Bharat Biotech, Serum Institute of India and Pfizer. The Union health ministry said that there is a hope that early licensure is possible for all or any of them.
