Ajay Devgn Falling Into Sequel Trap?

Ajay Devgn seems to be strengthening his position as Bollywood’s franchise king, with fresh updates emerging around two of his successful films — Raid and Shaitaan.

Producer-director Abhishek Pathak recently confirmed that discussions for Raid 3 and Shaitaan 2 are currently in progress, further adding to the growing list of sequels associated with the actor.

According to Pathak, Raid 3 is still in the early stages of development following the success of Raid 2. The team is said to be carefully working on ideas while ensuring the franchise maintains its gripping narrative and intensity.

At the same time, conversations surrounding Shaitaan 2 are also underway, although the makers are reportedly unwilling to rush the project without a strong script in place.

The developments once again highlight Ajay Devgn’s increasing association with sequel-driven cinema. Over the last few years, the actor has headlined multiple franchise films including Drishyam 2, Singham, Golmaal, Raid 2, and now potentially Raid 3 and Shaitaan 2.

While many contemporary stars are experimenting with unconventional subjects and fresh storytelling formats, some industry observers feel Ajay is leaning more towards established brands and proven box-office formulas.

However, the actor’s strategy has largely worked in his favour commercially, as audiences continue to connect strongly with familiar characters and successful franchises. Pathak also stressed that sequels today cannot survive on brand value alone and need compelling storytelling to justify another installment.

But for now, all eyes remain on whether Ajay Devgn’s next big-screen outings will once again come from the world of sequels.
