Ilaiyaraaja is one of the legendary figures in Indian cinema. He is the only composer who has worked on more than 1,000 movies and is still busy with a few interesting projects in his kitty. Not just movies, but he is also equally busy with concerts.
Interestingly, he also fights against those who use his work without authorization. From time to time, we have seen him report cases and file copyright claims whenever someone uses his work without permission. Now, team Karuppu also came under the radar as they mocked Ilaiyaraaja in one particular scene.
In one scene, a Vijayakanth song plays in the background, and it was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. Director RJ Balaji indirectly included a counter on the issue, with a sarcastic dialogue about fighting for rights. This reportedly hurt Raja’s fans.
Even after being aware of what all happened in Ilaiyaraaja copyright cases, especially with Kollywood films, the team Karuppu tried to play with fire, which is completely unnecessary. However, the makers realized it sooner rather than later and deleted the particular scene that could have triggered a massive controversy.
Moreover, the team also issued a public statement, apologizing for the goof-up, which sorted things without getting escalated further. But these kinds of actions are not fair at a time when movie doing well at the box office despite mixed talk. The film needs more attention in the right manner than some unnecessary attention ruining the film’s hype.
Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu is bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures. The film was released in Telugu under the title Veerabhadrudu.
