AR Rahman is one of the star music composers in the Indian film industry. He has worked in many Telugu films, but he has never scored a blockbuster.
When Rahman was roped in for Peddi, many criticized the film, arguing that it might not work out, given the myth that Rahman’s straight films have never worked at the box office. But with Peddi, Rahman broke the myth.
Rahman delivered two instant charbusters before the release, and then everyone looked forward to his background score. Interestingly, the score is also getting a good response from the audience.
Those who watched the premieres and the early-morning shows are heaping praise on Rahman’s score. Overall, he used his experience scoring emotional and action sequences to improve the product.
Having said that, the item song did not work for the majority of the audience. It is neither hummable nor a blink-and-miss number on the album.
Usually, for films like Peddi, the item songs are extremely important for rural backdrop movies, as they can increase the adrenaline rush among the mass audience, but the special number disappointed due to wrong placement. And then there are some background tracks that might have worked better with a little more refinement.
Apart from the above few complaints, which can be ignored, Rahman pulled off a blockbuster. The best part is that other music directors use a single track and bring out multiple versions of it as part of the score but Rahman used different tracks in the score, making it an wholesome experience.
