Superstar Rajinikanth is collaborating with Kamal Haasan for two interesting films. In one of them, the duo will share the screen together, while in the other one, Kamal will be a producer while Rajini headlines the project.
Initially, KS Ravikumar was considered later Sundar C was roped in to do the film and then, he was replaced with Cibi Chakravarthy. But finally, Ashwath Marimuthu is helming the film. The film’s title was announced today and Rajini will play the titular role in Dharman.
After multiple directors entering and exiting, the team finally settled on Ashwath, who has two hits to his credit. Especially after the success of Dragon, there is a lot of positivity around Ashwath’s collaborations.
It is, in fact, a dream come true moment for the young director who has been waiting to work with Rajinikanth. The film is going to be made on a big budget, and the scale will be massive. If Ashwath delivers a success, he will immediately enter the star league of directors.
Director has raised curiosity around Dharman by describing it as a unique blend of Rajinikanth’s Padayappa and Kamal Haasan’s Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu. He also hinted that Rajinikanth will be seen in a completely different avatar, one that is expected to surprise audiences in a big way.
The director also shared an interesting conversation with the Superstar. “When I met Rajinikanth sir, he told me, ‘We should win at any cost. We are doing this with RKFI and Kamal Haasan. Consider me your assistant. I’ll share my suggestions for Dharman, and you can either take them or ignore them,’” revealed Ashwath, highlighting Rajini’s humility despite his legendary stature.
While Kamal appears ready to support the film on a grand scale, the real challenge lies with Ashwath Marimuthu, who now has the responsibility of delivering a solid, compelling film that lives up to the faith placed in him by two of Tamil cinema’s biggest icons.
Simran and Raashi Khanna are also a part of the film. Anirudh Ravichander is the film’s music director. More details of the film are awaited.
