Director Venkatesh Maha believes Satya Dev starrer psychological drama Rao Bahadur is unlike anything Telugu cinema has produced, describing it as an ambitious blend of emotion, spectacle, and originality.
The director explained that the story revolves around a terminally ill man who survives beyond his expected lifespan because he refuses to give up on a deeply personal mission. Though almost paralysed, he sets out to complete that final quest with help from those around him.
“The emotional journey is what drives the film. Unlike many films where subplots drift away from the main narrative, every track in Rao Bahadur remains connected.”
Calling Rao Bahadur the most intense character of his career, Venkatesh Maha joked that the character would become as iconic as a scarecrow standing outside every household. He also confirmed the film is conceived as a complete standalone story.
Hero Satyadev expressed complete faith in the project. “We’ve always believed our tagline- Telugu film you’ve never seen before’, and we feel even more strongly about it after completing the film.”
Satyadev urged audiences to experience the film on the big screen instead of waiting for OTT. “It’s heartbreaking when films receive appreciation only after their digital release. Rao Bahadur deserves to be experienced in theatres.”
He added that the film contains a powerful emotional foundation and is visually stunning. “I’m proud to say this will stand as one of the most important films in my career.”
Confident in director Venkatesh Maha’s vision, producers said the backing of Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar gave them additional strength. “This isn’t a formula film. It’s an immersive experience where audiences won’t simply watch events unfold. They’ll feel like they’re living inside its world.”
They also revealed that regular ticket prices have been maintained to encourage repeat viewing, believing audiences will want to revisit the film after experiencing it once.
