Satluj featuring Diljit Dosanjh was stuck without a theatrical release for almost two years. After fighting hard against the censor board, the makers finally decided to release the film on OTT. Ever since Sutlej started streaming on ZEE5 a few days ago, it has become a talking point.
But sadly, the film has now been taken down, disappointing many. ZEE5 officially confirmed the news and stated in an emotional note that they are fighting legal battles to bring the film back on ZEE5 very soon.
For those who do not know, the hard-hitting drama is based on human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who brought to light the unauthorized cremation of thousands of unidentified bodies in Punjab amid the Khalistan movement during the late 1980s. Honey Trehan has directed the film, which also had Arjun Rampal in a key role.
Post the success of Dhurandhar, he is once again seen in a sensible role in Satluj. Diljit Dosanjh is the main lead and his performance was being praised big time on social media. Despite the film being taken down on OTT, several scenes related to the Khalistani movement were leaked online and have become a talking point on social media.
None of the cast or the director have commented on this ban on the controversial film as the film deals with a sensitive topic and involves some big names. One needs to see what happens in the days to come.
