Tamil actor Arya has landed in legal trouble after a cheating case was registered against him at the Jubilee Hills Police Station in Hyderabad. The complaint was filed by a camera equipment rental company over alleged non payment of dues.
According to the complaint, Arya, producer Vinod and representatives of the production house hired high end digital cameras, lighting units and other equipment for the film Ananthan Kaadu. They reportedly assured the company that all payments would be cleared without any delay.
The company claimed it transported the expensive equipment from Hyderabad to Kerala at its own cost and provided support throughout the shoot. However, after the filming was completed, the makers allegedly failed to clear more than Rs 1.80 crore out of the total Rs 2.12 crore due.
The complainant alleged that the producers had acknowledged the pending amount in writing and promised to clear the dues before the film’s release. Despite repeated reminders through letters, phone calls and WhatsApp messages, the payments were not made.
The complaint also alleged that Arya, producer Vinod and a personal assistant threatened the company’s manager when he sought payment. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
