Prithviraj Sukumaran is a top star in Malayalam cinema and plays the main villain in S. S. Rajamouli’s Varanasi. His new film, I, Nobody, was also dubbed in Telugu and is all set to end up as a major flop. Even in Malayalam, the film has not done great business despite generating decent buzz.
Though Prithviraj is known for choosing unique concepts, his recent solo films, such as Pallichattambi and Sarzameen, did not make a significant impact and ended up as disappointments despite him getting a good name for his performances.
Prithviraj is one actor who works in multiple languages and takes on strong roles. While he continues to earn appreciation in other industries, he seems to be on the back foot when it comes to his Malayalam films.
He is also a director and is known for backing quality projects. However, looking at his recent filmography, one can say that the star actor needs to go back to the drawing board, focus on more meaningful projects in Malayalam cinema.
There is no denying the fact that Prithviraj is likely to gain a lot of recognition when Varanasi releases, but there is still a long wait for that. For now, he needs to carefully assess his market and avoid doing back-to-back films merely for the sake of it.
