Will Lokesh’s DC Make an Impact in Telugu States?

It is a known fact that Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj is all set to make his acting debut in a film titled DC. The romantic drama also has Wamiqa Gabbi and will release on August 7, 2026, in Telugu as well.

Though it is a Tamil film, DC is expected to open well in the Telugu states, thanks to Lokesh Kanagaraj’s massive popularity among Telugu audiences. The excitement has grown further as he is directing Allu Arjun’s next film, while Anirudh Ravichander’s craze and the popularity of the chartbuster Raaga of Love have added to the buzz. Lokesh has built a strong fan base with films like Vikram and Leo, making curiosity around his acting debut remarkably high.

However, things may not be easy for DC at the Telugu box office. The film will face competition from two notable Telugu releases, the biggest among them being Varun Tej’s Korean Kanakaraju.

Varun is in desperate need of a hit after a series of setbacks, and has pinned all his hopes on this commercial entertainer and is making sure the film opens well. The trailer has generated decent interest, and the unique backdrop has caught the attention of moviegoers.

If Korean Kanakaraju opens to positive word of mouth, it could emerge as a strong choice for Telugu audiences, especially in the mass belts. Alongside Varun’s film, KJQ, featuring Sasi Odela, brother of director Srikanth Odela, in the lead role, is also releasing on the same day.

While DC has the advantage of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s brand value, the real question is whether it can dominate the Telugu market while facing Korean Kanakaraju and the other local release, KJQ. Well, the August 7 box-office battle is shaping up to be an interesting one.
