Netflix is one of the top streaming giants in the world, capturing the interest and viewership of movie lovers globally. However, an interesting report from the streaming platform reveals that the largest contributor to its viewership is Indian content.
During the first half of 2026, the platform’s viewership grew by leaps and bounds. When they measured “What We Watched,” India emerged as the top country with the highest viewership, pushing the USA and the UK to the next places.
Netflix is rapidly increasing its content library by grabbing all crazy projects starring big actors. They are also in a partnership with small platforms like ETV Win to stream their content on those platforms.
In the recent report, we have four Indian titles occupying the top slots, generating record viewership. Dhurandhar crossed all boundaries, garnering 37 million views. Additionally, the recent release Made In Korea has also become the first South Indian film to top the platform’s Global Non-English Films chart.
Gone are the days when Netflix was a platform filled with a library of foreign titles; with the emergence of global content and the availability of dubs in other languages, Indian titles are getting global attention.
The titles like Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, The Great Indian Kapil Show, Maamla Legal Hai, and Kohrra are the most watched titles, securing places among the platform’s Global Top 500 series. Other Indian films and series garnered 688 million views on Netflix during early 2026.
The documentary surrounding Baahubali, Devara, OG, Hi Nanna, Kingdom, Andhra King Thaluka, The Girlfriend, Peddi, Raakasa, Sing Geetham, Biker, DJ Tillu and some more titles from Telugu cinema emerged as popular films on the platform, capturing a huge interest.
