Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has unprecedented craze for Real IMAX 70mm screenings across the world. While IMAX theatres are available in many countries, the true 70mm IMAX experience is limited to just 41 screens globally.
Out of these 41 screens, 26 are located in the United States, while the remaining theatres are spread across countries including the UK, Australia, the Czech Republic and a few others. India has IMAX screens, but none of them support the 70mm IMAX format.
Film lovers say Nolan’s latest epic is best experienced in Real IMAX 70mm, as it was designed to take full advantage of the format’s larger aspect ratio and immersive visuals. That has led to an overwhelming demand from moviegoers.
The rush has become so intense that most Real IMAX 70mm theatres in the US are sold out for weeks, with several venues fully booked for nearly two months. Similar demand is being seen in other countries as well, with some theatres in London reportedly having no tickets available until September.
To accommodate the huge demand, theatres are running back to back screenings from early morning until after midnight. Even with extended show schedules, tickets continue to disappear within minutes, highlighting the extraordinary global excitement surrounding The Odyssey and the rare Real IMAX 70mm experience.
