Emraan Hasmi starrer Awarapan 2 is creating a surprising buzz even before its theatrical release. The sequel to the 2007 film is witnessing strong advance bookings, leaving the industry surprised by the level of interest surrounding the film.

The biggest twist is that Awarapan was actually a box office disaster when it arrived in theatres. The Emraan Hashmi starrer reportedly earned only around ₹7 crore in its entire theatrical run.

However, the film slowly developed a cult following over the years. Its popularity on television, home media and streaming platforms completely changed the perception surrounding the film.

The sequel is now tracking towards a massive opening, with trade estimates suggesting a possible ₹15 crore to ₹20 crore Day 1. If that happens, it would be a remarkable turnaround for the franchise.
